The Providence Department of Art, Culture and Tourism, the Office of Mayor David N. Cicilline and Workforce Solutions of Providence/Cranston came together to provide 260 youth with work training in arts, technology and environmental jobs.
An unprecedented collaboration occurred between city government, arts and community based organizations and individual artists to utilize funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to provide workforce training and jobs to young adults.
Harken Productions trained 6 youth in all aspects of video production and then took on the mission of documenting and filming all of these training programs. The video is being used by the City of Providence to showcase the value of these training programs and to request additional funding for workforce training.
